Children's Ministry

At FBC Searcy, your kids are one of our top priorities. In our Children & Youth Building, the entire Second Floor is devoted to our Children’s Ministry. Here are some of the things you can expect from Children’s Ministry at FBC Searcy:

Age Graded, Biblically-Based Life Groups

We believe that Sunday morning Life Groups are a vital part of ministry to children in today’s world. That is why we place a high priority on this program. You will find a class for every age with carefully chosen curriculum to guide them into developing faith in God and increasing that faith as they grow older. Here are our current Children's Life Groups:

  • 1st Grade - Misty Osborne & Cora Lewis
  • 2nd Grade - Elaina Martin & Pat Munson
  • 3rd Grade - Libby Taylor
  • 4th Grade - Becky & Phil Williams
  • Preteens - Amy Roussel & Stephanie Housley

Discipleship and Missions Education

FBC Searcy is committed to helping children grow in discipleship and to learn about missions and mission activities.

  • Girls in Action – 6:00-7:00 on Sunday Nights. This is Southern Baptist missions education for Grades 1-6. Missions education is a vital component of our children’s ministry because we believe it is essential for children to learn what missions is all about and how people around the world are reaching people for Jesus Christ. During the summer months, our G.A. program meets on Wednesday evenings.
  • Royal Ambassadors – This Southern Baptist missions education program for boys in Grades 1-6 is led by men and just for boys. They meet from 6:00 to 7:00 on Sunday evenings. During the summer months, our R.A. program meets on Wednesday evenings.
  • AWANA – Awana Clubs meet on Wednesdays from 6:00 until 7:30 pm immediately following our Fellowship Supper. Children in Grades 1-2 participate in Sparks, Grades 3-4 participate in T&T Ultimate Adventure, and Grades 5-6 participate in T&T Ultimate Challenge. Awana Clubs meet only during the school year and take a break during the summer months.

Other Programs and Special Events

Throughout the year, we also have a wide variety of trips, programs and special events for children. Here is a sample of those programs and events:

Children’s Choirs – Our Children’s Choir Program is part of the FBC Music Ministry. There are two different choirs for school-aged children. Music Makers Choir is for grades 1-3 and promises to be a great time of singing and learning. They perform several times per year in Worship. In addition, our Young Musicians Choir (for grades 4-6) works hard to produce two different Musicals each year. Both choirs promise great adventure for your children, and both choirs meet on Sundays from 5:00 to 5:45 pm. Our Children's Choir program meets only during the school year.

Vacation Bible School – Every Summer, we spend a week celebrating, worshiping, learning, and playing as Vacation Bible School takes over the buildings of FBC. Vacation Bible School is always open to children who have completed Kindergarten through sixth grade. Often we will also open up this week to those who are entering Kindergarten. Whatever the case, this is always an exciting week of fun and learning.

Summertime Fun Activities – Every year, during June and July, we plan a variety of fun trips and activities for children who have completed grades 1-6. In the past we have gone to the Memphis Zoo, Mid-America Science Museum, and Jump Zone,. We always have a great summer at FBC Searcy.

Centri-Kid – Children’s Camp is a vital part of Children’s Ministry at First Baptist Church. In 2008, we began a new chapter in our children’s camp program that we intend to continue for many years. Centri-Kid is a high-energy, exciting Children's Camp for those who have completed Grades 3-6.
